Year Ender: From 'Choti Sarrdaarni' To 'Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka', Top Fiction Launches Of 2019

As the year comes to an end, here's a look at the most successful fiction launches of 2019.

New Delhi: Several shows were launched on Indian television in 2019 but very few couldn’t sustain their viewership and win the hearts of the viewers. ‘Bepanah Pyaar’, ‘Bahu Begum’, ‘Sanjivani 2’, ‘Haiwan’, ‘Namah’ were launched with many expectations but none of the shows could set the TRP charts on fire. However, there were few fiction shows, which managed to keep the viewers hooked on to their television sets. As the year comes to an end, here’s a look at the top fiction shows which were launched in 2019. Choti Sarrdaarni When Colors TV launched ‘Choti Sarrdaarni’ in place of ‘Ishq Mein Marjawan’, many believed the show wouldn’t be able to remain on-air for long. However, the daily soap has proved its naysayers wrong. The show has not only dominated the 7:30pm slot but also topped the TRP charts for two weeks. ‘Choti Sarrdaarni’ features Nimrat Kaur Ahluwalia and Avinesh Rekhi in lead roles.

Yehh Jaddu Hai Jinn Ka ‘Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala’ had lost its steam and Star Plus wanted to replace the musical drama with a new show. Their gamble of putting a fantasy based show did wonders for them. ‘Yehh Jaddu Hai Jinn Ka’ has managed to keep the audience on the edge of their TV seats with its drama-packed episodes. Very few shows have been able to give ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ stiff competition at 8:30pm slot and ‘YJDJK’ has done the same.  The show stars Vikram Singh Chauhan and Aditi Chauhan in lead roles.

Divya Drishti Very few fiction shows have worked in the weekend slot; ‘Naagin’ being an exception. However, Star Plus’ ‘Divya Drishti’ has changed the game altogether. The supernatural show stars Sana Sayyad, Nyra Banerjee, Sangita Ghosh, Adhvik Mahajan in lead roles.

Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke The spin-off of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ deserves a mention in this list. ‘Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke’ starring Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma is doing a good job in terms of TRPs. ‘YRHPK’ is the slot leader at 10pm with a good margin over its rivals. Spin-offs have become the new norm in the TV industry, isn’t it?

Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum Star Plus had a successful year if we take in consideration the number of hit shows it has launched in 2019. After a slow start, ‘Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum’ has finally picked up pace. The show starring Dipika Kakar and Karan V Grover is doing a good job at 9pm slot despite competition from ‘Kumkum Bhagya’.
