Uorfi Javed Summoned For Inquiry Over BJP Leader's Complaint, Records Statement With Mumbai Police

Mumbai Police has summoned Uorfi Javed following a complaint from Maharashtra BJP leader Chitra Kishor Wagh.

New Delhi: Model and social media influencer Uorfi Javed's statement was recorded by Mumbai Police on Saturday in response to a complaint made against her by BJP politician Chitra Wagh. Police called Javed for inquiry and she went to the Amboli police station to record her statement, according to a police official.

Following a complaint from Maharashtra BJP leader Chitra Kishor Wagh, Mumbai Police summoned Uorfi Javed. She has been charged with promoting obscenity in public places, according to Chitra Wagh, but the television actor has also accused the BJP politician of intimidation.

However, the official said that no First Information Report (FIR) has yet been filed in relation to Wagh's complaint.

The news agency ANI reported on Saturday that the 25-year-old has been called for an investigation today. "TV actress & social media influencer Uorfi Javed called for inquiry today in connection with a complaint against her by BJP leader Chitra Wagh: Mumbai Police," the tweet shared by ANI read.

Uorfi Javed has lodged a complaint against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Chitra Kishor Wagh for her alleged remarks regarding the actor's "immodest" clothing choices.

Wagh is the target of the complaint alleging that she threatened and criminally intimidated the actor in order to hurt her in the public eye. Additionally, the attorney has asked that preventative measures be taken in accordance with the applicable clause of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

"I have lodged complaint for the offence U/s 153(A)(B), 504, 506, 506(ii) of IPC Against BJP Party Worker Smt Chitra Kishor Wagh for Threatening, and Criminal Intimidation to cause harm to Model/Actress Urfi Javed on public domain," the message from Uorfi Javed's lawyer read.

On January 4, a BJP leader attacked Uorfi Javed on Twitter for her fashion choices and questioned whether the Women's Commission would take any action.

The social media star, Uorfi Javed, posted a series of remarks in response to the BJP leader's police complaint on her Instagram stories.

Uorfi Javed first gained fame for her appearance on 'Bigg Boss OTT', and then, she has been in the news for her bold sense of fashion.
