New Delhi: Comedian Kapil Sharma, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Zwigato’, recently revealed that he once invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appear on his show, 'The Kapil Sharma Show'.

In an interview with Aaj Tak, Kapil said that when he met PM Modi, he invited him to his show and he didn’t receive a no or a yes from the PM. So, the omedian hopes to host him on his show one day.

Kapil said in the interview, “Main personally jab mila Prime Minister Modi sahab se, toh maine unko bola bhi ki ‘sir kabhi humare show pe bhi aa jaiye aap’. Unhone mujhe mana bhi nahi kiya, unhone kaha, ‘abhi toh mere virodhi bohot comedy kar rahe hai…’ aise kuch bola. ‘Aayenge kabhi’. To unhone na nahi kiya. Wo aayenge toh humara saubhagya hai. Main chahunga ki … lighter side logo ke saamne aaye. Toh log bhi dekhe mazedar, hassi mazak waali baatein (When I had personally met Prime Minister Modi, I had told him, ‘Sir come on our show’. He didn’t say no, he said something like, ‘Right now my opposition is doing a lot of comedy’. Something like this he said, but he didn’t say ‘no’ either. We would be honoured to have him on the show. I would like people to see the fun, lighter side of him).”

Meanwhile, Zwigato, directed by Nandita Das, will be released on March 17. During the trailer launch, Kapil Sharma said he never imagined Nandita Das would offer him a film. "Maine zindagi mein nai socha tha, inhone ne bhi nai socha tha. I have always been a fan of Nandita, have seen Firaaq and Manto. And seeing those films, I hadn't imagined that she will ever offer me a film. Her films may be serious but in personal life she is quite funny. When you see the film, everyone will be able to relate to it,” Kapil said.

Zwigato was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews.
