Divya Agarwal Reacts To Varun Sood's Cheating Comment: 'Show Dignity, I Am Engaged Now'

Actors Divya Agarwal and Varun Sood parted ways last year. A recent Twitter interaction by Varun Sood brought their breakup again into the news.

New Delhi: Actors Divya Agarwal and Varun Sood parted ways last year and Divya got engaged to her boyfriend Apurva Padgaonkar, on the occasion of her 30th birthday in December last year. A recent Twitter interaction by Varun Sood brought their breakup again into the news.

Recently, during a chat session on Twitter to promote his show, Varun was asked if he cheated on Divya. He responded by saying, 'I didn’t, bro'. Divya reacted to this by a now-deleted tweet stating that her manager has been contacted repeatedly. This was followed by a tweet from Varun’s sister Akshita Sood claiming that Divya had not returned the family's jewellery. This tweet is also deleted now. Following this, Divya posted a picture of the jewellery and said that she is giving it back.

Now, in an interview with The Times of India, Divya talked about the whole incident and her breakup. She said she didn’t understand why Varun had to answer any personal questions while promoting his show.

“I don’t understand why a person has to respond to personal questions when promoting his upcoming show. Varun could have avoided the question. It has been a year since our breakup, but people continue to ask questions, and one should know how to avoid them and show dignity because I am engaged now,” she was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Reacting to Varun’s sister Akshita’s claim, she said, “They have been asking my manager about the gifts since many days. During our three-year courtship, there were many gifts and cards exchanged, one does not keep a count of all that. Now, even after I returned the jewellery, the phone calls to my manager haven’t stopped! I am tired of arguing over Twitter. From losing a parent to a bitter break-up, this has been the toughest phase of my life. There was a reason I decided to break up. Why are people asking about things like infidelity now?”

Divya was also called a gold digger by the trolls on social media after her engagement announcement and during this episode. Reacting to the trolling, Divya said that had she been a gold digger, she wouldn’t have worked so hard to make her career and married someone rich.

“I have won reality shows and have been a part of three web shows… I am an independent girl. Also, can’t a woman want a partner who is also settled in his career? Is that being a gold digger? If I was a gold digger, I would not have worked hard and built a career, I would have found a rich guy and settled down,” she told Times of India.

Divya and Varun appeared on the TV reality show Ace Of Space together and started dating soon after the show ended. They parted ways last year.
