Amitabh Bachchan Gets Nostalgic As KBC Completes 25 Years; Salman Khan Reportedly In Talks To Host Next Season

As preparations for the new season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ get underway, Big B himself took a moment to reflect on this remarkable journey.

New Delhi: Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ marks a major milestone today, completing an incredible 25 years since its debut on Indian television. The show, which first aired on July 3, 2000, not only changed the face of Indian game shows but also introduced the megastar to the small screen audience in a never-before-seen avatar.

On this special occasion, Big B took to social media to share his feelings about the momentous journey. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “T 5430 - Today 3rd July, 2025, as I work on this year’s season KBC prep, I am told by the KBC team - 3rd July 2000, the first broadcast of KBC happened. 25 years, the life of KBC!” He also echoed the same sentiment on his Instagram handle, where fans poured in their wishes and shared nostalgic memories associated with the show.

Originally adapted from the international format of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was an instant hit, thanks to its unique premise, life-changing rewards, and, of course, Amitabh Bachchan’s charismatic presence.

Over the years, the show has featured countless contestants from different walks of life, offering not just prize money but also inspiration, emotion, and moments of genuine connection.

Salman Khan To Host Next Season?

While the show celebrates its silver jubilee, a new twist may be on the horizon. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Salman Khan is in advanced talks to take over hosting duties from Amitabh Bachchan starting Season 17. A source close to the development revealed, “Salman Khan is the king of the small screen, and the best face to replace Amitabh Bachchan is him, as he also has a strong connect with the audience in the smaller centres.”

The insider added that Bachchan might step back from the show owing to “personal reasons,” opening the door for Salman to make his quiz show debut. While nothing has been officially confirmed by the makers yet, the buzz has certainly created a ripple of excitement among fans.
