New Delhi: It is south Indian cinema's Superstar Rajnikanth's birthday today, on December 12. The actor who turns 71 this year, made his debut with the film 'Apoorva Raagangal' in 1975. Ever since then, Rajnikanth wowed the audience with his versatile performance in several films, thereby going on to to grab the well-deserved title of a 'Superstar'.

On the actor's 71st birthday, fans and popular celebrities have flooded social media with best wishes for the iconic actor. Renowned actor and Ranjnikanth's son-in-law Dhanush, wished his 'Thalaivaa' on his special day, referring to him as the 'One and only Superstar.' Dhanush tweeted,"Happy birthday my Thalaivaa!! The one and only Superstar Rajnikanth sir....love you so much."

Mammootty, another superstar of the South film industry, wished the actor by sharing a picture with Rajnikanth from the film 'Thalapathi' in which the two co-starred. Mammootty wished the actor good health and blessings.

Rajnikanth made his Bollywood debut in 1983 with the film 'Andha Kanoon' starring Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. The film went on to become the highest grossing film of the year. The actor has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016.

Superstar Rajnikanth was recently honoured with the highest award in the field of cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 67th National Film Awards this year, for his outstanding contribution to the world of cinema.
