Mammootty Asks Fans To Watch 'Bramayugam' With Open Mind; Urges Not To Get Influenced By The Trailer

‘Bramayugam’, starring Mammootty and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, is one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of 2024 and is set to hit theaters on February 15.

New Delhi: ‘Bramayugam’, starring Mammootty and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, is one of the most anticipated Malayalam films of 2024 and is set to hit theaters on February 15. The film's trailer, which was unveiled on Saturday, went viral due to its amazing visuals and starring Mammootty as an aging feudal ruler with a penchant for dark magic. The horror thriller is set in the "dark age of madness."

Mammootty On Bramayugam

Mammootty, meanwhile, made a fairly unexpected plea to moviegoers and fans during the trailer premiere event in Abu Dhabi, urging them to walk into the film with an open mind and not base their opinions on what they see in the trailer.

"I have a request to all of you who are planning to watch the movie. While the trailer may have sparked various ideas, I urge you not to jump to conclusions about the story. I am saying this so that you are not disappointed [that the original narrative is different from your assumptions]. Watch the film without preconceived notions and refrain from anticipating the emotions it is going to elicit in you, as it can affect your viewing experience when the predictions come true.”Mammootty said at the event.

“This will be a fresh experience for Malayalam’s new generation because they are about to witness many things, which they usually enjoy in colour, in black and white in this movie,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Mammootty added that while many had recommended holding the trailer presentation in Kerala, he and the crew of the movie preferred to have it in the United Arab Emirates because, as he put it, "It boasts a large population that celebrates Malayalam cinema. It is just like Kerala, is another Kerala or can even be called an extension of Kerala."

'Bramayugam' is "set in the late 18th century when the Portuguese arrived in Kerala, India," according to Mammootty.

“Their arrival affected our country’s socio-political landscape and this too has a role in the film,” he said.

About Bramayugam

Mammootty's remarks regarding the movie's content and his appeal to the audience take on more importance in light of the recent setback for Lijo Jose Pellissery's Mohanlal-starring Malaikottai Vaaliban. There were a number of rumors concerning the movie that were used as justification for the high expectations. One such rumor involved a comment made by filmmaker Tinu Pappachan, who was Lijo's assistant director. In an interview, Tinu has stated that, “Mohanlal’s intro scene in Vaaliban would make theatres tremble,” implying that the film would be a popular viewing experience. Malaikottai Vaaliban, on the other hand, was essentially far from that, which many thought detracted from the cinematic experience.

'Bramayugam', which also stars Arjun Ashokan, Sidharth Bharathan, Amalda Liz, and Manikandan R Achari in important roles, is co-produced by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novelist TD Ramakrishnan co-wrote the dialogue for the film with director Rahul.
