Malayalam Star Mohanlal Confirms Drishyam 3: 'Past Never Stays Silent..'

Mohanlal is all set to return with the sequel of one of Malayalam industry's biggest blockbuster 'Drishyam'. Mohanlal, who has starred in 'Drishyam' and 'Drishyam 2' will now be seen in 'Drishyam 3'. The Malayalam industry star confirmed 'Drishyam 3' on X. 

Taking to his official X handle, Mohanlal wrote on X, "The Past Never Stays Silent Drishyam 3  Confirmed! #Drishyam3."

 

About Drishyam

'Drishyam' is a crime-thriller film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film stars Mohanlal, Meena and an ensemble cast including Asha Sharath, Esther Anil, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Roshan Basheer, and Neeraj Madhav.

The original Malayalam film, which was also released in Hindi headlined by Ajay Devgn, released in 2013. The film was a massive box office and critical success. 'Drishyam' grossed Rs. 75 cr worldwide and became the first Malayalam film to cross Rs. 50 cr mark. The film also ran in theatres for more than 150 days.

Mohanlal's 'Drishyam' was also the longest-running film in the United Arab Emirates, running for over 125 days. The cult following of the film's franchise has been such that it has managed to stay in the Top 10 list of highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time for a decade until another film of Mohanlal and Jeethu Josepth's 'Neru'.

Drishyam 2

'Drishyam 2' was a sequel also written and directed by Jeethu Joseph starring Mohanlal in the lead. The film was released in 2021. The film also received widespread critical acclaim, and praise for his performances. 

'Drishyam' appealed so much to international audiences that it was made internationally in Chinese, Indonesian and Korean. The film's English remake has also been announced by Panorama Studios. 

The film won several accolades including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular appeal and Aesthetic Value. The film was also screened at the 45th International Film Festival of India and the 8th Asian Film Festival.
