As Rana Naidu Season 2 makes its debut, Rana Daggubati gets candid about a deeply personal battle most fans know little about—his ongoing struggle with impaired vision and life after a corneal transplant.

Rana Daggubati on his struggle in physically demanding scenes

In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Rana revealed how the procedure continues to impact his work, especially during physically demanding scenes. “I mean, my eye over the years has kind of become a joke, because I can’t see from one side. And during action scenes, it gets really funny if I don’t have my lenses on, there’s too much dust, and it gets pretty messy. But yeah, I’ve lived through all of that now,” the actor shared.

Rana calls himself Terminator

Poking fun at the number of surgeries he’s had, the Baahubali star added, “I even joke with people that I’m almost like the Terminator, I’ve got an eye, a kidney, and a bunch of other things that are transplants. So, if you’ve seen the Terminator, yes, I’m almost there, guys!”

Rana, who has partial blindness in his right eye, received a donor eye via corneal transplant. His left eye is also a transplant. While his resilience on screen remains unquestioned, the actor has spoken in the past about the emotional weight that came with this medical journey—both physically and psychologically.

It was back in 2016 when Rana first spoke publicly about his condition. Appearing on the Telugu talk show Memu Saitham, he opened up during a heartfelt exchange with a young boy who was sharing his own struggles.

“Should I tell you one thing? I am blind in my right eye. I see only from my left eye. The one you see is someone else’s eye, which was donated to me after his death. If I close my left eye, I can see no one. LV Prasad operated on me when I was young. Study well, we will support you. Be courageous, as you have to look after your family. Sorrows will go away one day, but you have to gear up and keep your family happy always.”
