Sharmin Segal on criticism: Sharmin Segal has been at the center of attention since the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Sharmin reacts to criticism for Heeramandi

In an interview with News18 Showsha, Segal acknowledged that while there has been significant negative feedback, there have also been many positive responses that have been overlooked. “I had given my all to Alamzeb’s character. We tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along, which we don’t talk about. It’s perhaps not interesting enough to talk about positives and we tend to look over them to some degree.”

Initially, Segal had disabled comments on her social media posts. She said, “There was a point when I was not looking at many things (reviews) but then slowly, I realised that I was also missing out on a lot of love that I was getting. I’ve now started paying attention to that. Over the last few days, I decided to look through it all. The audience’s opinion is what will probably help you be the best version of yourself,” she said.

Heeramandi second season

Meanwhile, the second season of Heeramandi has been given a go ahead by Netflix. Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali reacted to the second season of the show and expressed his gratitude. “I'm blessed by the love and appreciation for Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. It's been a joy to see the show resonate with audiences worldwide, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner than Netflix. I’m happy to announce that we’ll be back with season 2,” he said in a statement.

Monika Shergill, Vice-President Content, Netflix India, added, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali has intricately woven magic to bring Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar to life. Watching audiences everywhere fall in love with this series — making it truly their own as a cultural phenomenon — has been hugely energizing and it thrills me to share that we will be back with Season 2.”

Heeramandi boasts of an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Taha Shah, Shekhar Suman and others.
