Bombay HC Halts Release Of Netflix Docuseries 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth' Day Before Release
The release of Netflix's docuseries 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth’ has been delayed till February 29.
New Delhi: The Bombay HC has asked Netflix to halt the screening of the web series: 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth’ just a day ahead of the release.
The court has also directed Netflix to hold a special screening of the series for the Central Bureau of Investigation officers. The next hearing has been scheduled for February 29.
CBI had moved Bombay HC on Thursday seeking a stay on the release of the documentary after a special court rejected its plea.
A division bench headed by Justice Revati Mohite Dere asked the makers if any witnesses who are yet to be examined, feature in the series.
The CBI has objected to the release of the documentary based on Indrani Mukerjea, who is facing trial for the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, saying that the web series could affect the investigation of the case.
Indrani Mukerjea, who was an accomplished media executive, was married to media baron Peter Mukerjea. In 2015, she was arrested for allegedly murdering Sheena Bora. Sheena was earlier reported as Indrani’s sister but later it was found out that she was actually Indrani’s daughter from her first marriage.
