Explore the gripping underbelly of Asia's largest prison, Tihar Jail, in Netflix’s upcoming series ‘Black Warrant’. Directed by celebrated filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, the show marks his return to long-form storytelling after hits like Sacred Games and CTRL. Produced by Applause Entertainment alongside Andolan Productions and Confluence Media, the series adapts the book ‘Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer’ by Sunil Gupta and Sunetra Choudhury. 

About Black Warrant

Set in the politically charged 1980s, Black Warrant offers a fictionalised narrative inspired by real events, following rookie jailer Sunil Gupta as he confronts the grim realities of prison life. The series delves into the harsh conditions, intricate power dynamics, and high-profile cases that play out within Tihar’s formidable walls. 

Vikramaditya Motwane on Black Warrant

Director Vikramaditya Motwane shared his thoughts on the project, stating, "Black Warrant is raw, intense, and authentic—a story that needed to be told. 'Black Warrant' promises a riveting exploration of the stories hidden within Tihar Jail. The series will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2025.
