Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark & backlash
The controversy erupted after a clip from India’s Got Latent featuring Ranveer Allahbadia making an offensive remark went viral. During the episode, the podcaster asked a contestant an inappropriate question: “Would you rather watch your parents having sex all your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The remark was met with widespread outrage, with netizens slamming its distasteful nature.
Following the backlash, Allahbadia released a video statement on social media, admitting his mistake. “My comment wasn't just inappropriate; it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry,” he said.
He further added, “I don’t want to provide context or reasoning. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part.” His apology came hours after the controversy gained traction online.
Legal action & episode's removal from YouTube
Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed in a Mumbai court, seeking a police investigation against Ranveer Allahbadia and others, including Samay Raina.
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) also released a statement demanding strict action against both Ranveer and Samay, calling for an immediate ban on the show.
In response to the growing controversy, the contentious episode of India’s Got Latent has now been removed from YouTube.
