Devoleena Bhattacharjee Reacts To Payal Malik's Comment On Her Inter-Faith Marriage: ‘I Feel Pity For You'

Former Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Payal Malik, recently evicted from the show, and actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee have engaged in a heated exchange over each other's marriages.

Former Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant Payal Malik, recently evicted from the show, and actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee have engaged in a heated exchange over each other's marriages. The dispute began when Devoleena criticised Armaan Malik's relationship with his two wives, Payal and Kritika, labeling it as “filth.” In response, Payal accused Devoleena of lacking the right to judge her because of her interfaith marriage. Devoleena has now countered, alleging that Payal is involved in an “illegal act like polygamy.”

What Payal Malik said about Devoleena

In an exclusive chat with Entertainment Live, Payal Malik had reacted to Devoleena’s comment about them. She said, “Mai ye kehna chahti hu ki aap khud itni trolling ka saamna karke baithi ho aapki shaad ko leke. Aapne Muslim insaan se shaadi kari, wo aapki choice thi. Kyuki aap unhe pyaar karti thi aur insaan pyaar ke liye kuch bhi karta hai jo humne kiya. Agar jo chij aapke liye valid hai, wo chij humaare liye valid kyu nahi ho sakti. Aapke pyaar aake liye valid hai, humaara pyaar aapke liye valid nahi hai. (I want to say that you yourself are facing so much trolling, regarding your marriage. You married a Muslim man, it was your choice because you loved him. A person does anything for love, which we did, if the thing is valid for you, why can't that thing be valid for us)."

Devoleena's response

Devoleena then took to Instagram to express and replied to Payal’s statment. “A person needs a higher level of knowledge to compare interfaith marriage with polygamy, which I am sure intelligent people are quite aware of. And it’s not only my right, but it’s every Indian’s right to stand against such an illegal act like polygamy, which they are quite proud to show off on national television. Anyways, it’s a matter of individual fate. Just don’t make a mockery of the lives of those poor women who suffer every day and night because of this nonsense and die a little each day,” she wrote.

She further clarified her husband Shahnawaz Shaikh's stance on polygamy, writing, “Otherwise, do whatever you want. Why stop at two? Have 2, 4, or 5 marriages. Just don’t spread this disease in society. Each & Every word I say I mean it & still stand by it. And anyway it’s not new to me people making YouTube content on me. Please do the honor. Even if my husband is a Muslim, he is too loyal and is not interested in polygamy and we took 4 years to understand & then got married. Not in merely 7 days. Also, a woman’s self-respect shouldn’t be compromised. But I can feel you. I know you can’t understand this. Honestly, I feel pity for you. But then I guess that’s how you wanted your marriage to be after seeing this. Everything could be YouTube content for you guys. But not me. So carry on. Signing off.”

Devoleena Bhattacharjee married Shahnawaz Shaikh in 2022.
