New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden‘s web series Citadel had a successfull first season and is now all set for a new season. Prime Video on Thursday announced that it has renewed the series for a second season.
Joe Russo will direct every episode and executive producer David Weil will be returning as showrunner.
Executive producers of the show, Anthony and Joe Russo in a joint statement said, “AGBO is thrilled to embark on this next phase of the spyverse with Jen, Vernon, and the entire team at Amazon. The innovative storytelling of Citadel has paved the way for an incredible, worldwide collaboration with creatives in front of and behind the camera.”

Our goal was always to create a new franchise rooted in original IP that would grow Prime Video’s international audience. This show has drawn an outsize number of new international customers to Prime Video. The spy thriller—starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and featuring Lesley Manville and Stanley Tucci— is Prime Video’s second most-watched new original series outside the U.S., and fourth most-watched worldwide.
The final episode of Citadel Season 1 will drop on Amazon Prime Video on May 26. With all Citadel episodes available to binge, the first episode will be made free to stream without membership on Prime Video for a limited time.
Citadel is the debut of a landmark global franchise. Executive produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO, Citadel and its subsequent series traverse the globe with interconnected stories. Each Citadel series is locally created, produced, and filmed in-region, and stars top talent, forming a distinct global franchise. Indian version of the series is already underway in India starring Varun Dhawan, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
