Apoorva Mukhija Says Fame Feels 'Underwhelming,” Shares She’s Done With Mumbai

Apoorva Mukhija, currently seen in Amazon Prime’s reality series 'The Traitors', shared that she’s preparing to leave Mumbai — and possibly the country — to chase bigger goals.

For most aspiring artists, cracking the Mumbai scene is an uphill climb. But for content creator and digital personality Apoorva Mukhija, the city has become too easy. In a recent chat with Mashable India, the social media star, currently seen in Amazon Prime’s reality series 'The Traitors', shared that she’s preparing to leave Mumbai — and possibly the country — to chase bigger goals.

Apoorva wants to leave Mumbai and go abroad

Apoorva shared that she’s looking at master’s programs in fashion or management abroad and has already taken competitive entrance exams. “Main jana chahti hu bahar. Mujhe esa lagta hai Bombay me kitna accessible hai sab kuch. Agar mujhe kisi director se meeting karni hai, mujhe 15 phone call lagenge, lekin ho jaegi meeting. Ya kisi badi Diwali party me mil jaenge  (I want to move outside Mumbai because everything is so easily accessible here. If I want to meet a director, it will take me 15 calls, but it will happen. Or if I go to a big Diwali party, I will meet people). It is so easy and there's no room for growth," she told Mashable India.

Apoorva on fame that she has got

Interestingly, despite the visibility she’s gained — including her face on a billboard for The Traitors — Apoorva admitted that fame hasn’t hit quite the way she thought it would.

“In my head, every achievement has felt really weird. Pehle mujhe lagta hai mujhe, ye cheez karni hai, then when I do it, and it happens, I feel very underwhelmed by it. I am sure after The Traitors, I will feel the same,” she shared, acknowledging that even her biggest wins sometimes fall flat emotionally.

Apoorva's Traitors journey so far

In The Traitors, Apoorva has stood out for her sharp instincts — particularly when she correctly called out fellow contestant Raj Kundra as a traitor, which he later confirmed. The reality show, hosted by Karan Johar, features a star-studded cast including Jannat Zubair, Uorfi Javed, Raftaar, Anshula Kapoor, and others. So far, Raj Kundra, Karan Kundrra, Sahil Salathia, and Lakshmi Manchu have been shown the door.

New episodes of The Traitors stream every Thursday at 8 PM on Amazon Prime Video.
