Nora Fatehi Files Defamation Suit Against Jacqueline Fernandez For Dragging Her Name in Sukesh Chandrashekhar Extortion Case

Both Nora Fatehi and Jacqueline Fernandez have earlier been questioned by different investigation agencies in the Rs. 200 crore extortion case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

New Delhi: The 200 CR Sukesh Chandrashekhar extortion case has seen a big development today. Nora Fatehi filed a defamation suit against fellow Bollywood actor and colleague Jacqueline Fernandez and various media organizations in a Delhi court. The hearing for the same has been listed by the Patiala House Court for March 25, 2023.

The matter was listed before Metropolitan Magistrate( MM) Kapil Gupta on Saturday, but that matter could not be taken up as the concerned magistrate was on official training, reported news agency ANI.

Nora has claimed in the complaint that Jacqueline Fernandez's statement has caused her reputation harm which were further carried and circulated by the other accused ( media organizations), "all of whom were acting in connivance with each other and a conspiracy by Jacqueline Fernnadez to ensure the financial, social and personal downfall of the complainant was hatched and enacted by the said actions," reported ANI.

Nora through her advocates Vikram Singh Chauhan, Umair Ahmed, and Tanisha states that Jacqueline made a 'false statement' which was 'unnecessary and unwarranted'. Jacqueline 'unnecessarity dragged the complainant' and 'defamed her as she is in the same industry and is fully aware that the business of any artist and their career is solely based on their reputation", ANI report added.

Both Bollywood actors have earlier been questioned by different investigation agencies in the Rs. 200 crore extortion case involving Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

Nora's complaint has come after Fernandez claimed she was 'falsely implicated by the ED while celebs such as Nora Fatehi, who had also received gifts from conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, had been made witness'.

"The complainant has a pristine reputation apart from a rapidly progressing career which has quite obviously threatened her rivals who are unab;e to compete with her on a fair footing. It is pertinent to mention herein that both the complainant ( Fathei) and the accused ( Fernandez) are actresses of foreign origin and both have had their share of struggles in rising to fame in the Indian film industry, hence, it is evident that the act of the accused in dragging the name of the complainant wherein she has not business mentioning the complainant is mala fide in nature. It is also pertinent to submit here that the reputation of any person in the film industry is an asset and any dent in the same would cause huge and irreparable damage to their career," Fatehi's statement read.
