Was KGF Star Yash Offered To Play Raavan In Ramayan And He Turned It Down? Here Is What The Buzz Is

Amid Adipurush starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon gearing up for release, there were reports of another film based on Ramayana to be directed by Nitesh Tiwari.

New Delhi: Amid 'Adipurush' starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon gearing up for release, there were reports of another film based on Ramayana to be directed by Nitesh Tiwari. There was buzz that Alia Bhatt has been confirmed to play Sita opposite real-life husband Ranbir Kapoor, who will be seen as Lord Ram. There were also reports of KGF actor Yash being approached for the role of Ravana and the actor rejecting it. However, there is no official confirmation of it.

According to India Today, while Yash was offered the role, the actor is reportedly not keen on playing a negative character. “Yash is very mindful of what his fans want and, right now, they definitely will not accept him in a negative role. He has always believed in his fans and gone by their sentiments so he will not be taking up this role," India Today quoted its source as saying.

Yash's team has denied any such reports.

Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Alia was the first choice for Ramayan, but the dates couldn’t match due to various reasons. But since the film got very delayed, Nitesh and producer Madhu Mantena again approached Alia for the role.

Alia was also spotted outside Nitesh Tiwari's office recently. Even Ranbir has been spotted visiting DNEG office. “Over the last few weeks, Ranbir Kapoor has been spotted visiting the DNEG office, to check on the progress of Ramayana. The pre-visualization of the world has already been done and the team is now doing look tests with Ranbir to play Lord Ram. The purpose of the visit has been to get the right look for Ranbir as on getting it right, he will then step into the physical transformation aspect,” Pinkvilla quoted its source as saying.

Nitesh, who is known for films like 'Dangal', 'Chhichhore', is currently busy with his next film starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor-starrer 'Bawaal' which is based on World War.

If everything goes well, this will be the second collaboration between Alia and Ranbir after their last film 'Brahmastra'.
