OG star of 'Forrest Gump' which was adapted to make 'Laal Singh Chadha', Tom Hanks praised the film. He called it a 'glorious thing to behold,” and added, “I saw that. Extraordinary.”

“I think it’s a testament to how film grows on film. I think all of us have seen movies that have been incorporated into the rest of our creative process, sometimes bleakly, but sometimes very specifically,” Hanks told Zoom.
Hanks also spoke about the global appeal of the film that speaks to people across cultural boundaries, and said, "Every now and again, there is a film that enters the worldwide consciousness that you cannot forget, that you cannot escape.”
He also spoke of the similarities and differences in the original and remake. "Look at the difference and yet look at the similarities despite the filmmakers and the cultures that they were in. In many ways, those films were saying the same thing but with the added prospect of the new perspective that came along with it.”
"I just, I think it’s to be celebrated. It was a glorious thing to behold," Hanks added, speaking about film adaptations.
However, despite Hanks' praise, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' did not perform well at the box office upon release. The film bombed at the box office, and received mixed response from both critics and audiences. Many criticised the film's adaptation, its pacing, dialogues and Aamir Khan's performance.
Aamir Khan later took complete responsibility for the film. He said the failure of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' was due to his performance and other problems. He called his performance 'weak' and that he pitched it too high."
