National Award-Winning Director Sumitra Bhave Passes Away At 78
Mohan Agashe revealed that Sumitra Bhave's COVID-19 test came negative after she was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Mumbai: Popular Marathi filmmaker Sumitra Bhave passed away at the age of 78 in Pune. Apart from being a director, Sumitra Bhave was also a theatre director, producer and screenwriter. She has directed more than 50 short films and some Marathi serials.
Actor Mohan Agashe informed ABP News, “Sumitra Bhave died at 6.45 am today due to lung infection and other physical complications at Sahyadri Superspeciality Hospital in Pune.” He further revealed that Sumitra’s COVID-19 test came negative after she was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Mohan Agashe told, “Sumitra was suffering from a complex disease called Interstitial Lung Disease. A few years ago, well-known actor Girish Karnad died of the same disease.”
Sumitra Bhave had made a distinct identity by making films on different like 'Dahavi Fa', 'Doghi', 'Samhita', 'Astu', 'Nital', 'Welcome Home' and others. She joined Sunil Sukthankar while directing films in the 1980s and the two directed about 17 films together. Both jointly directed films like 'Dahavi Fa', 'Doghi', 'Astu', 'Kaasav' and were also awarded National Award.
