SP Balsubrahmanyam Health Update: Singer's Condition 'Extremely Critical', Put On Maximal Life Support, Says Hospital

New Delhi: Veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam is said to be 'extremely critical' after his health deteriorated in the last 24 hours, a hospital bulletin read.  Balasubrahmanyam was hospitalised last month after testing positive for COVID-19. The doctors at MGM Healthcare are closely monitoring the singer’s health condition, who has been put on 'maximal life support'. His condition worsened on Wednesday (September 23) after showing some signs of improvement in the past few days. His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical. The team of experts at MGM Healthcare are closely monitoring his health condition.” Bollywood superstar Salman Khan took to Twitter to pray for the legendary singer's speedy recovery and also thank him for the songs he crooned for him. "Bala Subramaniam sir . All the strength hope wishes from the bottom of my heart to a speedy recovery n thank u for every song u sang fr me n made special your dil dewana hero prem, Love u sir," the 'Bigg Boss 14' host tweeted.
Balasubrahmanyam's son SP Charan had provided an update about his 74-year-old father's health two days back. Charan informed that his dad was 'eager to leave the hospital as early as possible'. Ekmo/ventilator, physio therapy continue with oral intake of liquids. He's been eager to leave the hospital as early as possible."
Earlier this month, SP Charan revealed that his father tested negative for Coronavirus; however, the doctors couldn't take him off the ventilator due to the condition of his lungs.
SP Balasubrahmanyam tested positive for COVID-19 in the first week of August. The playback singer was shifted to the ICU after his health condition worsened. Several celebs including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan organised a mass prayer meet for the singer's speedy recovery. Balsubrahmanyam is the recipient of civilian awards like Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The singer has crooned over 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages. The National Film Awards winner has lent his voice for several Salman Khan's films including 'Maine Pyar Kiya', ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun', 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain'.
