In less than a week from now, Akshaye Khanna would be making his OTT debut with State of Siege: Temple Attack. Second installment of the State of Siege franchise, this one is a movie (instead of a web series) that has been designed exclusively for an OTT release. While the promo of this Ken Ghosh directed film has anyways made heads turn, what is expected to be shocking for the audiences is the series of events associated with the actual temple attack that had shocked the nation on 24th September 2002.
This was the time when social media was at its infancy (or shall we say, almost negligible) and even the news channels weren't in hundreds, as they are today. Hence, while the news of the horror that unfolded did reach people, it wasn't at the scale and speed as it happens in the current times.

Amongst the many shocking things that are set to be unveiled in this story, the biggest could well be about a shopkeeper. Apparently, he helped the terrorists inside the temple by giving them information in order to save his son who had been kept hostage.
The carnage that followed resulted in the killing of 30 people (excluding the attackers) while more than 80 people were wounded (including at least 23 police officers). In fact the deaths included 27 people who were inside the temple, two state police officers and one commando.
No wonder, NSG had to take charge in full force and this is where Akshaye Khanna's character of an NSG commando comes into picture. The promo does indicate that how he steps into the mission to salvage it all. The thriller reveals that how two buses of NSG commandos and one bus filled with NSG equipment arrived at Akshardham, and from there on the rescue mission and counter attack started taking place, hence resulting in the lives of hundreds other been saved.
Over the years, the Akshardham attack and the response to it has emerged as a case study for the NSG. In fact Brigadier Raj Seetapathy, the NSG commando in-charge of the rescue mission (aptly called Operation Thunderbolt/Operation Vajra Shakti), has asserted that the response to the Akshardham terror attack had become a benchmark of clock-work achievement.
No wonder, one looks forward to what ZEE5 has in store for the audiences when State of Siege: Temple Attack releases on 9th July.
