New Delhi: This Christmas will see a clash between Shah Rukh Khan and Prabhas on the big screen as 'Dunki' and 'Salaar' are all set for a face-off at the box office. Shah Rukh had confirmed the release of Rajkumar Hirani's directorial recently and now as per the reports Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ will also have Christmas 2023 release. 

Christmas has traditionally been a coveted release date in the film industry, known for drawing families and friends to theaters. The holiday season often witnesses a surge in box office collections, making it an ideal time for big-ticket releases. Both ‘Salaar’ and ‘Dunki’ are undoubtedly eyeing this prime slot to maximize their potential earnings. 

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the clash on X and said that the exhibitors have received a mail that the Prabhas starrer will release on 22 December 2023, the same day Dunki is releasing. 

He wrote, “YES, IT’S TRUE… SRK VS PRABHAS, ‘DUNKI’ VS ‘SALAAR’ THIS CHRISTMAS… The exhibitors have received a mail stating that #Salaar will arrive THIS CHRISTMAS [on 22 Dec 2023]… An official announcement by the producers, #HombaleFilms, will be made on Friday [29 Sept 2023]. This is the SECOND TIME #HombaleFilms is clashing with #SRK… In 2018 [#Christmas], it was #Zero vs #KGF [first part]. SRK had already blocked #Christmas [22 Dec 2023] for #Dunki… And now #Prabhas also stakes claim on 22 Dec 2023.”

'Salaar' was previously scheduled to be released on September 28. Reportedly, the VFX work is one of the reasons that the film was pushed to a later date.   

At the Jawan’s success press conference, Shah Rukh had confirmed that Dunki will release in Christmas 2023.  

"God has been very kind we have had Pathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan and I always say this. We started on January 26, Republic Day (with Pathaan), it's a good auspicious day. On Janmashtami, on Krishnajis birthday we released this film (Jawan). Now New Year and Christmas are around the corner, we will release Dunki. National integration rakhta hoon. Waise bhi jab meri film release hoti hai to Eid hoti hi hai. (I keep National integration. Anyway, when my film is released, it is Eid.) I'm working hard, I'm working harder than I worked in the last 29 years. I will keep working hard because now I'm the happiest when people get happy after watching the film,” he told media. 

Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role.
