Sandeep Reddy Vanga Calls Critics 'Illiterate' For Bashing Animal: 'They Should Go To China To Teach English'

Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has said in a recent interview that he knew that the film would receive the backlash and had discussed the same with actor Ranbir Kapoor.

New Delhi: Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’ is the most polarising film of the year with critics calling the film out for its misogyny, glorified toxic behaviour and violence while the film is continuing to mint money at the box office. Even the audience is divided with a few loving the film while others criticising it. Sandeep has said in a recent interview that he knew that the film would receive the backlash and had discussed the same with actor Ranbir Kapoor. The director called his critics ‘illiterate and uneducated’

In an interview with Connect FM Canada, the director said that the critics are selectively critical of his film. He also said they should ‘go to China to teach English.’

"It's out of their capacity, I have seen other reviews also. The way they talk, they should go to China to teach English. Because they come up with new English words in every other video review. Other than that you won't find anything else. Even in Kabir Singh, they were selective (in criticising) that Kabir (Shahid Kapoor) slapped, they didn't mention that Preeti (Kiara Advani) was the first person to slap,” he said in the interview.

He also called the critics ‘illiterate’. "How can you say that 'it's torture for 3.5 hours', such a shameful thing to say that. Nobody speaks about the craft, the editing, sound design, because they are literally illiterate, uneducated when it comes to films. They have no sense of how to criticise the film or review the film,” he added.

The film, also starring Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, has collected more than Rs 520 crore at the domestic box office and Rs 850 crore globally. The film's songs and background score has become a rage among the viewers. The film was release d on 1 December 2023.
