Oscars Academy Revisits Timeless Song From Aamir Khan's 'Lagaan', Fans Flood Comments With Love

Fans were filled with nostalgia after The Academy shared a beloved moment from Lagaan on Instagram. The official Oscars page posted a clip of the popular song Radha Kaise Na Jale, featuring Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh, sending fans of the 2001 film down memory lane.

The Academy shares iconic Lagaan song

In the caption, The Academy wrote, “Love, longing and a little bit of fire in her eyes. Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh performing Radha Kaise Na Jale (vocals by Asha Bhosale and Udit Narayan) from Ashutosh Gowariker's Lagaan. The film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film (India) at the 74th Oscars.”

The post quickly sparked reactions from fans across the world. One user wrote, “Hindu prayer song performed by a Muslim, written by a Muslim, composed by a Muslim. Welcome to India, folks.”

Released in 2001, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India is a period musical sports drama directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film was India’s official entry for the Academy Awards and earned a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film at the 74th Oscars.

Starring Aamir Khan and Gracy Singh, the film also features Suhasini Mulay, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Vivek, and several others, along with British actors Rachel Shelley and Paul Blackthorne.
