Karan Johar Replies To NCB Notice, Denies Usage Of Drugs At His House Party In 2019
Karan Johar submitted a written reply to the Narcotics Control Bureau, denying the usage of drugs at the party organized at his residence in July 2019.
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, who was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau, submitted written reply to the agency on Friday (December 18). Johar, in his response to the notice issued by the NCB, said that no drugs were consumed at the house party which took place in July 2019.

The drugs law enforcement agency issued a notice to the 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' director and asked him to 'share the details about the party' which was hosted at his residence in Mumbai last year. Several tinsel town celebs including Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Malaika Arora attended the party. A video from the get-together was heavily circulated on social media.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa approached the NCB in September 2020, accusing the celebs of consuming drugs in the party hosted at Johar's house in 2019. Sirsa had earlier claimed that he filed a complaint about the video with the Mumbai Police in August 2019 but no investigation was conducted. Karan had issued a statement to squash the reports of drugs consumption at his party.

The NCB has intensified its probe into the alleged Bollywood drugs case in the last few months. The agency has questioned several film personalities including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal in connection with drugs case. Last month, the anti-drugs agency arrested Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa after banned narcotics substance was recovered from their house. They were later granted release on bail.
The NCB started its investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's death after receiving official communication from the Enforcement Directorate about the chats related to drugs consumption.
The NCB arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant under various provisions of the NDPS Act in September 2020. Earlier this month, Showik was granted bail after staying in prison for nearly three months. Rhea was granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh.
