Live-in, marriage don't have to be mutually exclusive: Aditya Roy Kapoor
In their upcoming film "Ok Jaanu", they play a couple in a live-in relationship and actors Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor say they are "open minded" about the idea in real life too but won't do anything that will upset their parents.
The movie, directed by Shaad Ali is a remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil hit "Ok Kanmani". Aditya and Shraddha are reuniting on the screen after the success of "Aashiqui 2".
When asked about her thoughts on marriage and live in relationships, Shraddha said, "I am open minded about the idea but it will be a bit difficult because I live with my parents. I have been living with them ever since I was born. I think it also depends... If I meet someone with whom I see a future, then maybe I will be open to the idea."
"I am definitely open. After you are in an experience then only you can talk about the pros and cons. But I would not like to do anything that my parents don't like," Aditya added.
The 31-year-old actor, however, believes live-in relationship and marriage don't need to be mutually exclusive. Also marriage as an institution is not under threat because of live-ins.
"Marriage is not an institution of the past. Most people get married because there is some weight to it, it means something. It has some relevance.
"Live-in relationships and marriages don't have to be mutually exclusive. Most people in live-in relationships either end up getting married or breaking up. But marriage as an institution is not under any threat," he said.
The actors are excited to meet Mani Ratnam at a screening in Mumbai tonight but say the celebrated director has already seen the Hindi version and he has liked it.
"We are looking forward to meeting Mani sir and (A R) Rahman sir tonight," Aditya said.
