IIFA 2017: Was Sushant Singh Rajput's cryptic tweet targeted at Shahid Kapoor?
NEW DELHI: One of the much-awaited Bollywood nights, 18th IIFA Awards 2017 was celebrated with great pomp and show. The who's who of the film industry landed in New York in their utmost glamorous outfits. Though, IIFA is over but the dazzling pictures from the ceremony are all over internet and are driving fans crazy. But this time, the 'much-celebrated' award function also triggered row. After Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Saif Ali Khan's nepotism chant, Sushant Singh Rajput gets mired in the controversy.
The 'Raabta' actor who made everyone groove with his stunning performance was nominated for the Best Actor Award for his superb performance in M S Dhoni: The Untold Story' but unfortunately he lost out the award. Shahid Kapoor emerged to be the lucky one who bagged the award for 'Udta Punjab'. But that's not it, Sushant's cryptic tweet tagging IIFA's Twitter handle made everyone think twice. Here's what the 31-year-old actor tweeted:
As soon as he tweeted, people began speculating the reason behind this unclear message. Some even predicted it to be the case of sour grapes as he failed to win the award and trolled him for the same. However, a source close to the actor told Indian Express, “Sushant’s tweet had nothing to do with the awards. It was simply an expression of having a successful graduation from a background dancer, to now being an actor performing at the very same award function. Infact the tweet was posted right after Sushant’s performance and had no relevance to the award ceremony. As opposed to the speculation, not getting an award doesn’t affect Sushant as he is very secure as an actor.” Whatever may be the reason but Sushant is bearing the brunt of his expression..@IIFA hahahaha
