ED Summons Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Ritu Kumar In Illegal Transaction Case

According to ED sources, the three fashion designers have been asked to appear for interrogation at the ED headquarters in New Delhi.

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned three leading Bollywood fashion designers for interrogation in connection with a case of illegal transaction with a Punjab politician. The ED sent a notice to Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Ritu Kumar, asking them to appear before the officials. 

According to ED sources, the three fashion designers have been asked to appear for interrogation on different dates at the ED headquarters in New Delhi. 

The Punjab MLA had illegally paid lakhs of rupees in cash to the three fashion designers, ED sources said.  The three designers came under ED scanner after the investigative agency found that they gave clothes for a wedding, which was organised by the Punjab MLA a few years back. The payment, which was worth lakhs, was made in cash. 

Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi and Ritu Kumar are among the leading fashion designers in the country. They have designed clothes for several Bollywood celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. Sabyasachi created the wedding outfits for Anushka Sharma, Priyanka and Deepika.
