'Deva' Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor's Film Opens To Moderate Numbers Despite Positive Reception, Earns Rs 5 Crore

Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde starrer action thriller movie 'Deva' has released in theatres, receiving positive responses from the audience.

New Delhi: Critics and moviegoers alike were impressed by Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde's action thriller Deva which premiered on January 31. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 5 crore on its first day, which was somewhat disappointing. There was a significant drop from Shahid's last theatrical film, 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya', which had an opening weekend gross of Rs 6.7 crore.

On its first day, Rosshan Andrrews's ‘Deva’ had a respectable 10.24% occupancy in Hindi. Although attendance was 5.87% for the morning shows, it increased to 9.18% for the midday shows and 9.77% for the evening shows. Even though these are only estimations, the ultimate total can go up as the weekend starts.

A better indication of the film's potential box office takeaway will be its weekend performance. ‘Deva’ has a chance to improve its statistics over the weekend if it gains momentum with night and weekend shows.

Competition at the Box-Office

The opening statistics of Deva were not as impressive as those of the recently released record-breaking Hindi film ‘Sky Force’, which became the highest-opening picture of 2025. However, it is anticipated that ‘Deva’ will secure the second place, behind ‘Emergency’ and ‘Fateh’, which earned Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 2.4 crore, respectively.

More about ‘Deva’

The protagonist of ‘Deva’ is a talented police officer who, in the course of investigating a high-profile case, stumbles onto a web of lies. Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana and Shahid Kapoor are all prominent figures in the film. The film's producers are Siddharth Roy Kapur, Shariq Patel, and Umesh Bansal.

ABPLive review of the movie reads: "This film is an adaptation of the 2013 Malayalam film ‘Mumbai Police’, but the story has been restructured to suit a fresh setting. This film is a complete entertainer, packed with thrilling action, suspense, and a mind-blowing performance by Shahid Kapoor."
