Recently, in a conversation with IMDb while promoting his new film Sky Force, Akshay opened up about the challenges the industry faces today, particularly regarding unity. During the chat, his co-star Veer Pahariya, with a curious mindset, asked Akshay about his thoughts on Bollywood’s current state.
Akshay Kumar on what he wants to change in Bollywood
One of the many questions Veer posed was, “Is there anything about movies or Bollywood that you would like to change?” Akshay quickly answered, “If I get a chance to change anything about our industry, then I would like to bring more unity to our industry.”
He went on to explain, “We are like a family but, sometimes I feel that we work in isolation. We just become separate. If we come together, support each other, celebrate each other’s successes, and tackle challenges together to find solutions… If we come together as a collective force, that will create a lot of good impact on others also and the industry.”

This echoes a sentiment shared by Ajay Devgn in a recent conversation with Hindustan Times. During the same interview, Ajay highlighted the sense of unity in the southern film industries, contrasting it with the disjointed nature of Bollywood.
“I really appreciate how the people in the south industries come together and stand for each other as an industry, which, honestly speaking, we lack in the Mumbai film industry. I always want that to happen.”
He also mentioned the strong bond between his peers from the ’90s, saying, “As far as we are concerned, the 4-5 of us who started together in the ’90s – me, Akshay, Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir and others – are not in any kind of struggle or conflict. We are there for each other, and we all know that. You will never see that conflict between us.”
Concluding the conversation, Akshay shared his concerns, adding, “Unity is lacking, respect is lacking, and that is a big thing.”
