Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya's latest release, Sky Force, has had a promising start at the box office, collecting ₹11.25 crore on its opening day, as reported by Sacnilk. This marks Akshay’s best opening since Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), which also featured Tiger Shroff and opened at ₹15.65 crore but eventually crashed at the box office.
Following that, Akshay’s two releases, Sarfira and Khel Khel Mein, struggled with opening day collections of ₹2.5 crore and ₹5.05 crore, respectively. Notably, Khel Khel Mein had a star-studded cast that included Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, and Ammy Virk.

Sky Force opened to mixed reviews and recorded an overall occupancy of 20.93%. In Delhi-NCR, the film had 1,190 shows with 21% occupancy, while in Mumbai, it ran across 852 shows with an occupancy of 26.75%. The film is currently screening in over 4,000 shows daily.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency has seen a significant drop in its shows following the release of Sky Force. The film is now down to just 700 shows and, in its first week, has collected slightly over ₹14 crore. On its eighth day, Emergency earned only ₹35 lakh.
While Sky Force has managed a stronger opening compared to Akshay’s recent films, it remains uncertain if this film will break his box office dry spell. The actor has not delivered a hit as a lead hero since 2021’s Sooryavanshi, which made over ₹195 crore despite pandemic restrictions. His production OMG 2, in which he played a supporting role, fared much better, earning over ₹220 crore.
Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is based on the real-life story of India’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the Indo-Pak War of 1965. The film also stars Nimrat Kaur and Sara Ali Khan.
