Adipurush Director Om Raut Kisses Kriti Sanon On Cheek Outside Tirupati Temple, Sparks Controversy

The 'Adipurush' pre-release event was held in Tirupati. A video from the event showing the film’s director Om Raut kissing Kriti Sanon on her cheek has surfaced online, sparking a controversy.

New Delhi: The 'Adipurush' pre-release event, held on June 6 in Tirupati, was a grand event in which the film’s final trailer was released. A video from the event showing the film’s director Om Raut kissing Kriti Sanon on her cheek has surfaced online, sparking a controversy.

The team of Adipurush, including Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, launched the film's final trailer at Sri Venkateswara University Stadium in Tirupati on June 6. The viral video of director Om Raut and Kriti is from outside the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, where they had gone to seek blessings. In the video Om Raut gives Kriti a goodbye kiss on her cheek as she leaves in her car.

The video has sparked negative reactions. The head priest of the temple has termed it a "condemnable act".

He mentioned that even a husband and wife do not go to the temple together, and that the director and the actress "can go to a hotel room and do it".

"This is a condemnable act. Even a husband and wife do not go there (temple) together. You can go to a hotel room and do it. Your behaviour is like insulting Ramayan and Goddess Sita,” he was quoted as saying by India Today.

Ramesh Naidu Nagothu, the BJP State Secretary in Andhra Pradesh, also criticised the same in a now-deleted tweet.

He had tweeted, "Is it really necessary to bring your antics to a sacred place? Engaging in public displays of affection, like kissing and hugging in front of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala is deemed disrespectful and unacceptable".
