Trailer of Abhinay Deo's Doosra Receives Overwhelming Response, Crosses 5 Million Views

Plabita Borthakur and Ankur Vikal are playing the roles of principal characters in Doosra.

New Delhi: At a time when the country is celebrating the Indian cricket team's brilliant performances in the World Cup matches, director Abhinay Deo's next film Doosra - India's Other Freedom Story, strikes a chord with audiences. The film trailer released on Friday and has touched the hearts of over 5 million people in this short span of time. The sports drama is fueled by the iconic moment when Sourav Ganguly pulled off his T-shirt and waved it bare-chested from the balcony at Lords in London after the NatWest final.

Director Abhinay Deo says, "Doosra is a story that most of us can relate to, in some way or the other. It is a story of freedom, of breaking boundaries and feeling comfortable with yourself. Sourav Ganguly embodies these emotions and proved that we should be proud of who we are. It's overwhelming and very encouraging to see the response the trailer has received. 5 million views already; I can't wait for people to watch the film!"

Doosra which combines a fictional narrative of a young girl coming of age, with real footage of events in India’s sporting, political and economic history, will depict the impact of cricket in the real lives of Indians and their attitude. The original idea behind the film came from Chicago-based Executive Producers Masha and Rohan Sajdeh, which was then developed into a story and screenplay by India’s first advertising Grand Prix winner at Cannes - Agnello Dias.
