Aamir Khan Misses Andaz Apna Apna Screening, Says 'Was In No State To Go' Due To Pahalgam Terror Attack

Actor Aamir Khan was noticeably missing from a special screening of his 1994 comedy classic 'Andaz Apna Apna', held on Thursday in Mumbai. The film, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and co-starring Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, is set for a theatrical re-release on Friday, April 25. While the event gathered members of the original cast and crew, Aamir chose to stay away, citing the recent Pahalgam terror attack as the reason.

In a conversation with film journalist Subhash K Jha, Aamir revealed that the news of the attack had deeply disturbed him. “I was reading reports about what happened at Pahalgam in Kashmir. I have been badly affected by the senseless killing of innocents. I was in no state to go (to the preview). I will see it sometime later this week,” he said.

The tragic attack in Pahalgam, a picturesque tourist spot in Jammu and Kashmir, claimed the lives of 26 people after terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists. The incident has sent shockwaves across the country and led to an outpouring of grief and anger from across the political and entertainment spectrum.

While the country continues to mourn the loss of innocent lives, several Bollywood events, including film previews and public appearances, were postponed or scaled-down out of respect for the victims.

About Andaz Apna Apna

'Andaz Apna Apna', despite its initial box office failure upon release in 1994, has gone on to become one of the most beloved comedies in Hindi cinema. Reflecting on the film’s journey from flop to cult status, Aamir said, “Raj Santoshi and I were the only two people who believed in the film. We loved it. So, when it didn’t work, we were both sad. And then it goes on to become my biggest success on home entertainment!!! Both Raj and I were finally redeemed.”

The film is now playing in select theatres once again, offering fans a chance to relive the iconic comedy on the big screen.
