Lata Mangeshkar Tolerating Well To Procedures, Still In ICU: Doctor Monitoring Veteran Singer
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has once again been kept on ventilator support as her health deteriorated and her condition became critical.
New Delhi: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who has been undergoing treatment in a city hospital in Mumbai for nearly a month, was shifted on ventilator support once again after her health condition deteriorated and she became critical, earlier on Saturday, February 5.
As per latest ANI update, Dr. Pratit Samdani, who has been treating the singer at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, said,"Singer Lata Mangeshkar is in the ICU ward. She continues to be under aggressive therapy and is tolerating the procedures well at this moment."
The 92-year-old singer has been under the treatment of Dr. Pratit Samdani since January 8, on being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia. As per an ANI tweet a few hours ago, Dr. Pratit Samdani had given an update on Lata Mangeshkar's health. The tweet read as,"Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar's health condition has deteriorated again, she is critical. She is on a ventilator. She is still in ICU and will remain under the observation of doctors: Dr Pratit Samdani, Breach Candy Hospital."

The legendary singer had earlier been responding well to her treatment, and was even removed off the ventilator support. Just a week ago on January 30, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope had informed that Lata was recovering well. He had said,"I sope to DR. Pratit Samdani who is treating singer Lata Mangeshkar. She is recovering, was on a ventilator for some days, but is better now. She is no more on ventilator. Only oxygen is being given to her. She is responding well to the treatment."
Eralier, Dr. Pratit Samdani had said that Lata had been removed off the ventilator support but will continue to be under medical observation at the hospital.
The singer's team had also shared an updtae on her health, informing about her being given a 'TRIAL of extubation' and asking the fans to refrain from spreading any sorts of rumours.
Lata Mangeshkar, who is also known as the 'Queen of Melody' and the 'Nightingale Of India', has over 30,000 songs to her credit, in different Indian languages, in a career spanning over seven decades. She has also been conferred with the 'Bharat Ratna Award', India's highest civilian honour.
