'Laal Singh Chaddha' To Earn Rs. 8 Crores, 'Raksha Bandhan' Rs. 3 Crores With Advance Bookings

Multiplexes have shown better advance ticket bookings for 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in comparison to 'Raksha Bandhan'.

New Delhi: Despite the criticism around Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer 'Laal Singh Chaddha', the film has been creating quite a buzz. According to current trends, the advance bookings number for 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is looking great. According to Boxofficeindia, the film is estimated to collect an advance of Rs. 8 crores net plus.

It is being reported that the advance booking figure for 'Laal Singh Chaddha' is similar to that of last year;s Christmas release starring Ranveer Singh '83. At the same time, 'Rakshabandhan' starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar will also release on August 11, 2022. Advance booking for Rakshabandhan is estimated to be Rs. 3 crore nett. However, for Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' advance booking is better than his last two releases 'Samrat Prithviraj' and 'Bachchan Pandey' thanks to the extended Rakhi weekend holiday.

ETimes reported that although Laal Singh Chaddha is majorly based in Punjab, the state has not shown much interest in the early booking figures.

However, multiplexes have shown better advance ticket bookings for 'Laal Singh Chaddha' in comparison to 'Raksha Bandhan'. It will be interesting to watch how both mega-star films perform at the box office given the Rakhi and Independence Day holidays.

Earlier Akshay Kumar had shared his views about 'Raksha Bandhan' clashing with 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. Akshay told ETimes, “It’s a good week and it has two-three holidays. I think two releases can work easily this week. The COVID pandemic was there for almost two and a half years, so two or three films releasing in a week is inevitable.”

'Laal Singh Chaddha' has been directed by Advait Chandan. It is the official Hindi remake of the Oscar-winning Tom Hanks starrer 'Forrest Gump'. Besides Aamir and Kareena, the film also stars Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh.
