Popular playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK passed away on Tuesday after a stage performance in Kolkata.  The Kolkata Police had earlier registered a case of unnatural death as his face and head reportedly bore injuries.

However, the preliminary post-mortem report of the singer has cited the cause of death to be "normal", without any trace of foul play.

According to a report in IANS, the detailed post-mortem report and chemical analysis will be available only after 72 hours. Kolkata Police received the preliminary post-mortem report on late Wednesday afternoon from the state-run SSKM Medical College & Hospital, where a team of doctors conducted the autopsy.

According to the preliminary post-mortem report, following the contracted arteries, it can be assumed that the cause of death was massive myocardial infarction. However, the exact cause of death can be ascertained only after the final report is available.

The West Bengal government accorded a gun salute to the iconic singer in Rabindra Sadan. KK's body was brought from SSKM hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted, to Rabindra Sadan where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and family members of the singer paid their last respects.

KK's family took his mortal remains via a flight to Mumbai and his funeral will be held on June 2 in Mumbai.

KK was performing at Nazrul Manch in South Kolkata, he felt sick after returning to his hotel. The singer was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Many questions have been raised about the mismanagement of the event organisers. As per the reports, the venue was overcrowded, AC was not working.

KK came to Kolkata on Monday and on the same day, he performed at the same Nazrul Manch for another city college.
