Happy Birthday Johnny Depp! John Christopher Depp II, is an American actor, producer and musician, acknowledged as one of the world’s most famous actors, having appeared in films such as Pirates of the Carribean, Chocolate Factory and Charlie, among others. The Disney legend turns 59 this year, on June 9th.

Through his career, Depp has played various roles, including The Ninth Gate, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Platoon, Dead Man, Secret Window, and many more. At one point, he was the highest-paid actor, with have done business of nearly $4 billion. 

The 20th cousin of Elizabeth II, is also a musician and has played guitar on various songs and appeared in many music videos. 

Depp vs Heard 

They met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and then got married in 2015. However, the marriage soon ended in a divorce. 

Depp claimed that Heard deframed him in a newspaper article when she referred to herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse .” The six weeks testimony was all widely livestreamed on social media, exposing several details about their relationship. 

“The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled,” said Depp in a statement after winning the case.

Though Depp gained a near-total victory in his defamation suit against his ex-wife, it costed him almost everything. 

The three-time Oscar nominee for best actor, lost a $22.5 million payday for his role as Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Carribean” and was also replaced in the “Fantastic Beasts” spinoff. 

Depp hoped the lawsuit could very well help him restore his image. However, legal ad entertainment experts argue the opposite. “Both of them will work again, but I think it will be a while before a major studio will consider them ‘safe’ enough to bet on. The personal baggage that was revealed in this trial was just too icky for a studio to want to deal with.,” said former entertainment lawyer Matthew Belloni.

In his illustrious career, spanning over two decades, Johnny Depp has several accolades to his credit. Most popularly remembered for his role as Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' series, Depp is the recipient of a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He has also been nominated for the prestigious Academy Awards, thrice along with receiving two BAFTA nominations.
