'Investigation Is Not Defamation': Jacqueline Fernandez's Lawyer Reacts To Nora Fatehi's Defamation Suit
Nora on Monday filed a criminal complaint against Jacqueline before a Delhi court for allegedly defaming her by “unfairly dragging” her name into Rs 200 crore extortion case involving ‘conman’ Sukesh.
New Delhi: Nora Fatehi has alleged a defamation case against Jacqueline Fernandez where the popular Bollywood dancer is trying to row in an accusation against her industry colleague. Nora on Monday filed a criminal complaint against Jacqueline before a Delhi court for allegedly defaming her by “unfairly dragging” her name into Rs 200 crore extortion case involving ‘conman’ Sukesh Chandrashekar.
According to PTI, the complaint claimed the allegations made by Fernandez that Fatehi had received gifts from Chandrashekhar were wrong. Fatehi also denied she had received a luxury car from Chandrashekhar and said it was part payment to her brother-in-law Bobby Khan, who Chandrashekhar had approached for directing a movie.
“The only time the complainant spoke to Chandrashekhar was when his wife, Leena Maria Paul, made her speak to him over speakerphone at the event in Chennai where the complainant was invited by Leena. At the event, the complainant was gifted an iPhone and a Gucci bag by Leena. No gifts were ever received by the complainant from Chandrashekhar,” PTI quoted the complaint.
Recently, Jacqueline Fernandez’s lawyer had given a strong rebuttal to Nora Fatehi’s allegations. The court has also not taken cognizance of the case Nora Fatehi has filed, yet.
Explaining how investigation is not defamation, Jacqueline’s lawyer says "It is shocking that Nora Fatehi has filed a defamation on media as well as Jacqueline Fernandez, yesterday, while the entire case is still under investigation. Saying something to competent authorities during an on going investigation is not defamation”.
He further added, "It’s not as if Jacqueline has given media quotes or held any press conference in this matter. She has only co operated throughout the investigation and is fighting her case. Since the case is an ongoing investigation, Jacqueline has maintained a very dignified silence on the issue”.
The court had granted regular bail to Jacqueline Fernandez on November 15. She was named an accused in the supplementary chargesheet filed by the enforcement directorate.
