People Used To Say 'Ye Toh Tiger Shroff Ki Film Me Aayi Thi': Kriti Sanon Speaks About Nepotism

Kriti Sanon discussed everything from her early struggles to the controversial topic of nepotism in length at ABP Network Ideas of India 2.0.

ABP Network Ideas Of India 2023: With her range of acting skills, Kriti Sanon is winning over audiences. The actress has completed 9 years in the film industry and called her journey nothing but ‘magical’. On Saturday, Kriti attended the session on 'In the Top League: A Force to Reckon With', moderated by Sanya Hussain at Ideas of India 2.0. She discussed everything from her early struggles to the controversial topic of nepotism in length.

Kriti said that she enjoys her work and feels fortunate to do a job that she likes. She said that acting gives her a chance to entertain a lot of people. To sum up, she wants to do anything and everything that comes out of ‘passion’.

Talking about passion, she then talked about her passion project, ‘The Tribe’. The actress launched this fitness startup during the lockdown. She recalled her journey of ‘Mimi’, when she had to put on 15 kilos. She felt unfit following the weight gain and started working out with virtual guidance, shortly after the film. Hence, she started this startup because she wants to bring fitness to the entire country.

Kriti acknowledged that the success of the film's first release was a stroke of luck. She also revealed that she is a firm believer of three elements in life, Talent, handwork and luck. However, she also believes that "The harder you work, the luckier you get."

While talking about her critically acclaimed film, ‘Mimi’, she said, “It takes a role like Mimi to get the talent out.”

Kriti spoke on the subject of nepotism in Bollywood, saying, “It happens in every field and it’s not wrong. Actually, the debate is not about it being wrong, it is only about having equal opportunities for people who are not belonging to the film family. And that’s it.”

She acknowledged that insiders have privilege as they get the opportunity easily while outsiders have to struggle a lot. Giving the reference to her first film ‘Heropanti’ with Tiger Shroff, Kriti said that people at the airport used to say, 'Ye toh Tiger Shroff ki film me aayi thi'. She said that people already know the names of star kids, but it takes 2-3 movies for an outsider to be known.

She was asked whether cinema has seen a downfall post-pandemic, to which Kriti answered, “I won't say downfall but we are so used to the remote that we skip when we get bored and pause when we don't want to watch.” She also thinks that our attention span has reduced and because of the abundance of content on OTT, we have become very selective.

Speaking of marriage, she said, “I believe in marriage and I would love to get married but when I feel it right.” About how hard it is for an actress to get married, kriti said, “I even heard it from a few of my peers and I was very shocked that even in my generation people think like that, then where are we going?”
