Will Adolescence Return For Season 2? Stephen Graham Drops Major Hint

Netflix’s miniseries 'Adolescence' has taken the internet by storm ever since its release.

Netflix’s miniseries 'Adolescence' has taken the internet by storm ever since its release. However, neither the makers nor the actors anticipated that the series would resonate with audiences across demographics and generations on such a massive scale.

In a recent conversation, the show’s creator and lead actor, Stephen Graham, opened up about his struggles before the show’s success and even addressed the possibility of a Season 2—despite the series being initially planned as a standalone limited series.

Adolescence Breaks Records in 80+ Countries

Released in mid-March, 'Adolescence' has been topping Netflix charts in over 80 countries, including India, Saudi Arabia, and Australia. The British family drama has garnered widespread praise, particularly for its one-shot technique and powerful performances by the cast.

In an interview with Variety, Graham revealed that Netflix had approached them about the possibility of a sequel.

"Let’s see how the figures are. But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story."

His wife and co-producer, Hannah Walters, also weighed in, stating:

“There’s so much mileage in the one-shot technique and in exploring human nature through another perspective. But yes, everything’s looking good … everyone’s happy, shall we say?”

Adolescence Viewership Soars to 66.3 Million in Two Weeks

The show's global success is undeniable. Within its first four days, Adolescence racked up 24.3 million views—a figure that skyrocketed to 66.3 million within two weeks.

The series is produced by Matriarch Productions, the company founded by Graham and Walters in 2020, known for other acclaimed works like Boiling Point and A Thousand Blows.

What’s Next for Adolescence?

While reports suggest that a second season of A Thousand Blows is currently in post-production, 'Adolescence; remains in limbo regarding a potential follow-up.

Previously, co-creator Thorne dismissed the idea of a Season 2, stating: “I don’t think there’s anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don’t think there is a Season 2.”

When asked about a possible spin-off centered around Katie, Thorne responded: "I don’t think we’re the right people to tell Katie’s story."

Will Adolescence Return for Season 2?

With Netflix’s interest in a sequel and the show’s record-breaking success, fans are hopeful that Adolescence might return in some form—whether as a continuation, a spin-off, or a new story told in the same gripping style.
