New Delhi: The Golden Globe Awards 2024 has begun the race to the March's Academy Awards. The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards began in full swing on Sunday(Monday morning in India). Several Hollywood giants are in the race to bag the prestigious awards. Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' has nine nominations to its name while Christopher Nolan's 'Openheimer' boasts of eight nominations.
The Golden Globe 2024 marks Hollywood's first big celebration in Hollywood post the writers and actors strikes that halted most of the entertainment industry in 2023. This time, the Globes have opned their doors to more international journalists. From 80 journalists in the past to 300 entertainment journalists, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has rebooted the numbers who will honour the best in film and TV.
This year's ceremony is being hosted by Jo Koy.
Meanwhile, the films nominated in the best motion picture drama category include 'Oppenheimer', martin Scorcese's 'Killers of teh Flower Moon', Bradley Cooper's 'Maestro', Celine Song's 'Past Lives', Jonathan Glazer's 'The Zone of Interest' and Justine Triet's 'Anatomy of a Fall'.
'Barbie', Ben Affleck's 'Air', Cord Jefferson's 'American Fiction ', Tod Haynes 'May December' and Yorgos Lanthimos' 'Poor Things' are in the race of the best motion picture musical or comedy category.
At this years' Golden Globes, 27 first-time nominedd will be seen highlighting the Globes committment to embrace new talent.
Interestingly, a new category has also been added among other top honour categories. The Cinematic and Boc Office Achivement category expands the scope of judging films beyond the box office and acknowledging those which resonate beyong the critics circles.
'The Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television' category celebrates and recognises comedic talent thriving on the small screen.
The 81st Annual Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
The show beings at 6:30 AM IST and will stream on Lionsgate Play for Insian viewers.

Lily Gladstone has won the best female actor in a motion picture drama for Martin Scorsese's 'Killers of the Flower Moon'. In her acceptance speech, she thanked Scorsese and DiCaprio for helping to change things as 'tremendous allies' and hoped that other Native kids also get inspired.
