'Extremely Disrespectful': Yami Gautam's Angry Response To Dasvi Review

In 'Dasvi', the 33-year old actress plays a strict and law abiding cop Jyoti Deswal who motivates Abhishek Bachchan( who portrays a politician) to clear his Class 10 exams.

New Delhi: Yami Gautam, Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur starrer ‘Dasvi’ released on 7 April. As reviews about the film from critics and fans poured in, Yami Gautam strongly reacted to a review calling it "extremely disrespectful."

Yami Gautum took to her Twitter account to request the publication to not review her again. She also added that it took years of hard work for a self-made actor like her to reach where she is. So, when something like this happens, it becomes extremely heartbreaking.

"Before I say anything else, I’d like to say that I usually take constructive criticism in my stride. But when a certain platform keeps trying to pull you down consistently, I felt it necessary to speak up about it. My recent films & performances include A Thursday, Bala, Uri etc. & yet this is qualified as a 'review' of my work! It's extremely disrespectful!" Her post read.

In 'Dasvi', the 33-year old actress plays a strict and law abiding cop Jyoti Deswal who motivates Abhishek Bachchan( who portrays a politician) to clear his Class 10 exams. 'Airlift' actress Nimrat Kaur is also part of the film where she plays the role of an accidental chief minister after her husband ( Abhishek) is imprisoned.

Yami's performance in her recent film 'A Thursday' was lauded by critics and audiences alike. In a recent interview with IANS, she also said with 'Dasvi' and 'A Thursday', she attempted something very different as an actor and hopes to see that the audience appreciate it as well.

"I had a lot of fun playing a Haryanvi cop in the film ('Dasvi') and I'm ecstatic about the initial response to my performance. My family, my team, and some friends, who are always honest about their opinions with me, watched it a few days ago and I'm glad they strongly connected to my character throughout the film,” IANS quoted.

"Now, I'm excited to hear what the audiences have to say about it. I've attempted something very different and as an actor, I get my adrenaline rush from doing that,” she added.

Meanwhile, Yami also has an interesting lineup of films including 'OMG 2' alongside Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, and Aditya Dhar's 'Dhoom Dham' with Pratik Gandhi.
