Chinmayi Sripada Says Samantha Supported Her During The Me Too: 'She Has Broken Glass Wall That Is Built Around Women Actors...'

Chinmayi recently opened up about how supportive Samantha has been throughout even when others blacklisted her and she did not get any work.

New Delhi: Artist Chinmayi Sripada was one of the women to speak about sexual harassment at the time of #MeToo movement in India. Chinmayi also happens to be dubbing for Samantha Ruth Prabhu ever since her Telugu debut 'Ye Maya Chesave' (2010). The two also became friends in the due course of their collaboration. Chinmayi recently opened up about how supportive Samantha has been throughout even when others blacklisted her and she did not get any work.

In 2018, Chinmayi Sripada had accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual misconduct. The singer was also banned from the dubbing union because she spoke about MeToo allegations about its president, actor Radha Ravi. At the time, Samantha came out in support of Chinmayi and tweeted, "Dear @23_rahulr and @Chinmayi I know the both of you for ten years now . I don't know two more brutally honest people. It is this attribute of yours that I value most in our friendship. I love you with all my heart and what you say is the TRUTH !! #istandwithchinmayi."

Later, in an interview with Film Companion, Chinmayi said, "She has repeatedly broken every glass wall that is built around women actors in this country. Samantha stood by me during #MeToo. She was one of the few, if not only, voices of stature to believe me and continue to give me work. I'd even go out on a limb and say she got me to dub for her even when she was fully ready to be dubbing for herself."

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis last year. Despite that, Samantha has been trying to fulfill all her professional commitments. The actor will next be seen in the Indian version of Citadel with Varun Dhawan. The actor has been training quite hard for her role of an elite spy for the series.
