Recently a video of the couple went viral, where they are seen walking on the streets of London. Anushka, dressed in a white top and black trousers, strides ahead, holding a red bag. Kohli is indeed a good husband

There is no denying that from what it looks from the outside, Virat Kohli indeed is a great husband. He openly expresses love and gratitude towards his wife, Anushka Sharma, in ways that are refreshingly uncommon in a country where men are often conditioned to suppress emotions and vulnerability. By calling her from the field, acknowledging her at every milestone, and crediting her for his positive growth, Kohli is inadvertently teaching Indian men that it's okay to show their soft side.

Kohli's praise for this shows skewed expectations

But let's get real folks. The applause for Virat Kohli's bag-carrying act shows that our society's expectations of men are woefully low. We're living in a world where carrying shopping bags is considered the pinnacle of husbandly duties. Like, seriously? That's the best we've got? It's a stark reminder that we've set the bar astonishingly low for men in relationships.

We've become so accustomed to men doing the bare minimum that when someone like Kohli shows up and does, well, the bare minimum, we're shocked into admiration.

We expect women to manage households, careers, and relationships with ease, but when a man simply shows up and helps with the groceries, he's well a very considerate husband. It's a striking example of the uneven playing field we're on.

A man can earn the title of "Hands-On Dad" with minimal effort. An occasional comforting word, a sporadic presence, and he's a hero. Meanwhile, mothers are over here moving mountains, juggling a million tasks, and still getting side-eyed for not doing enough. As a female comic so aptly put it during her stand-up act, "It's very easy to be a bad mother, as easy as it is to be a good father." The truth hurts, doesn't it?

And let's not forget the assumption that the shopping bag belonged to Anushka Sharma in the first place. Because, of course, men can't possibly carry bags for themselves.

The reaction to Anushka and Kohli’s video is about our collective lowering of the bar. We're so quick to praise men for doing the smallest things, while women are expected to be all-encompassing forces of nature.

Let's strive for better and let’s make being a “perfect hubby material” means something more than just carrying a bag.
