Veteran Bengali Actor Basanti Chatterjee Hospitalised, Battling Stomach Cancer

Basanti Chatterjee has been battling stomach cancer for quite some time.

New Delhi: Veteran actress Basanti Chatterjee felt unwell during shooting last week. After this, the actor was taken to the hospital. Chatterjee, a seasoned actor, is reportedly in a coma according to her family members.

For quite some time, Basanti Chatterjee has been battling stomach cancer. A pacemaker was implanted in her heart recently. She was admitted to a private hospital in Alipore. Reportedly, the actor's kidneys were not functioning properly.

“She got ill three after coming back. Hence she could not go shooting. In fact, she could not recognize anyone. Basanti, 87, has been admitted since March 6. Reports say that her condition is critical. In 2021, she had Covid and was admitted for a long time,” Basanti's help told Anandabazar Online. 

Basanti features in the show 'Geeta LLB' which streams on Disney+ Hotstar. The series also features Bhaswar Chatterjee. The actor plays the role of his mother in the daily soap. Bhaswar recently posted a video of him and Basanti together on social media.
