Aaditya Kulshreshth on His Struggles in Mumbai
Aaditya Kulshreshth reflected on the changes and difficulties he encountered during his move from a small city to Mumbai. Highlighting a moment of self-awareness and humility, he said, “Mumbai jaake pehle aaina lagwa liya. Maine kaha Shah Rukh Khan toh nahi hu filhal main ((After going to Mumbai I got a mirror installed. I said I am not Shah Rukh Khan at the moment)."
He shared, "Generally, ye hota hai jab aap bade seher jaate ho, waha desh ke alag alag seher se log aaye hue hote hain. Toh aapko pta hota hai jo aap Bhopal me baatein kar rhe ho, aas paas ke logo ke saath kar rhe ho, unko iska reference pata hai. Unn jokes ki background history pata hai but aap Bombay me aise logo se milte ho jinka parivesh waisa nahi hai jaise aap rahe ho. Toh aapko bohot soch ke aur better baatein karni padti hai jisse zyada log relate kare. Zyada log smjh paaye wo baatein. Culture change toh wohi tha (Generally, this happens when you go to a big city, there are people from different cities in the country. So you know that whatever you are talking to in Bhopal, with people nearby, they know the reference of it. They know the background history of those jokes but in Bombay you meet such people whose environment is not like yours. So you have to think a lot and say better things that more people can relate to. Say things that more people can understand. That was the change in culture.)
He elaborated on the excitement of living in Mumbai, stating, “Mumbai me maza bohot aata hai. Ye bohot badhiya jagah hai. Kyunki aap naye naye logo se milte ho, aapka dimaag aur khulta hai ki acha iss tarike ke log bhi hote hain (It is a lot of fun in Mumbai. It is a very good place. Because you meet new people, your mind opens up and you realise that there are good people like this too).”
