ABP Impact Makers Conclave: YouTuber and actor Bhuvan Bam has had quite a journey from being a content creator to now being a full-fledged actor with a successful OTT show. Bhuvan's journey has been wrought with its own kind of challenges since it first began in 2015. Speaking at the ABP Impact Makers Conclave, Bhuvan spoke about his journey, when people thought he was from Karachi, how his channel BB Ki Vines and the character of Titu Mama came into being.

Bhuvan spoke about his early years as a musician at a Mughlai restaurant, Moti Mahal, where two of his friends along with him played music. Bhuvan Bam also emphasised the importance of empathy in a profession like journalism, his satire on Sringagar floods and how for the longest time people around him thought he was from Karachi, Pakistan.

When people thought Bhuvan is from Pakistan

For those unaware, Bhuvan’s first few videos went viral in 2015 and were mostly popularised through Whatsapp groups in Bangladesh. Bhuvan recollected having a million followers by the end of his first few videos.

Bhuvan said, " Mere 9 lakh 99,000 followers mostly sab bahr se the, India se nahi. To maine kaha, jaha se khana hai, jaha se kamana hai, jaha ki roti khani hai, vaha to koi videos dekh hi nahi raha hai kyunki mereere padosion ko lgta hai main Karachi se hoon kyunki Facebook pe jo comments section tha uske andar sare comments Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pokhran, aise aise jaga se aate the.To main dhundhta tha Sharma, Varma, Kanojia kahi aisa kuch dikh jaye koi naam, koi comments section mein, lekin dikhta nhi tha." (I have 999,000 followers, most of whom are from abroad, not from India. My neighbours think I'm from Karachi because in the comments section on Facebook, all the comments came from places like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and PoK. I used to look for names like Sharma, Varma, Kanojia to see if any such names appeared in the comments section, but they never did)

 

The content creator who starred in a successful OTT show, ‘Taaza Khabar’, also added that it was quite later through interviews that he started to emphasise that he was from Delhi, which almost surprised everyone.

Bhuvan has working in the entertainment industry for more than 10 years now and has a YouTube following of more than 26 million people.
