New Delhi: While it is expected that Amitabh Bachchan is a trailblazer for all outside his own family, Agastya Nanda, who made his debut with 'The Archies', has someone else he looked up to. Agastya Nanda has a different hero than Amitabh Bachchan. Recently, in an interaction, Agastya Nanda said that he has always been a fan of his 'mamu' Abhishek Bachchan; an actor whose films he grew up watching.

Agastya made his Bollywood debut with the Netflix film 'The Archies. When asked if coming from the family of Amitabh Bachchan makes him more grounded, the actor said that his mother Shweta Nanda was there to give him regular reality checks. "She takes my case. I told my mom, ‘These trolls have nothing on you’!”

The actor also said, "Weirdly, I don’t see him as Amitabh Bachchan the superstar, no matter how many fans will mob him, I genuinely see him as my nana. My mamu has genuinely been my hero growing up. Our generation grew up watching Dhoom, Housefull, Guru. These are our films. My mamu was my hero, when I saw Dhoom, I was like, ‘Oh my God those bikes’. My nana was a generation ahead, so I didn’t grow up watching him. I grew up watching mamu, so I was a bigger fan of his, and still am.”

While Jaya Bachchan has always been strict about not discussing work at home, Agastya said, "Luckily, my mamu loves giving gyaan, it is his favourite thing. He can give you gyaan about anything. I just have to sit and wait, and it will come. But it is helpful, I do listen to it and take what works for me.”

'The Archies' marked the acting debut of three star kids: Agastya, Suhana and Janhvi Kapoor. There was a whole lot of controversy around the nepotist casting in the film but filmmaker Zoya Akhtar had been upfront about auditions and the process of having finalized her leads; defending her decision on numerous platforms.
